Flourishing Phoenix was founded by Dr. Phil Richmond with a mission to help veterinary teams craft positive workplace cultures and enhance individual wellbeing. Our approach is built on two foundational principles:
Other people matter.
Identify and amplify our strengths.
We believe that veterinary workplaces should be environments where team members leave in a better psychological state than when they arrived. To achieve this, we prioritize relationships as much as business outcomes, recognizing that workplace wellbeing is not just a nicety—it’s a necessity.

At Flourishing Phoenix, we integrate the latest research in positive psychology, neuroscience, and organizational behavior to develop strategies that promote a thriving workplace culture. Our goal is to empower veterinary professionals with the tools and insights they need to foster resilience, enhance communication, and build supportive, high-performing teams.

“During our time on earth, we will meet a handful of people who will work alongside us, helping us to bring real change- real improvement to our experience of life. Phil Richmond has been one of those people for me. Phil’s dedication to holding the ladder while we climb up into the light is real and backed up with knowledge and experience.

Phil has been instrumental in helping so many colleagues through our Vets4Vets@VINFoundation programs- and it is a joy to know that he will be able to provide the tools and support that will help so many more through his Flourishing Phoenix work.

Through direct one-on-one coaching, leading small groups, inspiring large group format presentations and unique outside-of-the-box team culture redirection, Phil’s Flourishing Phoenix group can return joy and energy to challenged veterinary

Phil is not only one of the most well-informed and experienced students of positive psychology I’ve had the privilege of meeting, but he is also a warm, charismatic, and deeply caring human being. Between his willingness to share his personal journey and growth, his thirst for knowledge about psychology, behavior, and wellness, and his genuine desire to see others succeed, talking with Phil gives you the feeling that you will never again have to face challenges alone. He can hand out quick tips that help turn your mindset around to salvage a difficult day, but he is also a terrific active listener with a knack for helping you get to the heart of what is really the matter. I consider Phil to be a tremendous gift in my life and in the veterinary field.
